Stateflow-Based Energy Management Strategy for Hybrid Energy System to Mitigate Load Shedding

This study investigates the potential application of Stateflow (SF) to design an energy management strategy (EMS) for a renewable-based hybrid system (HES). The SF is extended finite state machine; it provides platform design, model, and execute complex event-driven systems using interactive graphical environment. HES comprises photovoltaics (PV), storage units (ESU) diesel generator (Gen), integrated with power grid that experiences regular load shedding condition (scheduled outages). EMS optimizes production utilization during both modes operation, i.e., grid-connected mode islanded mode. For operation mode, resilient delivery ensured when subjected intermittent renewable supply vulnerability. contributions this paper are twofold: first propose framework address problem shedding, second implement in validation proposed demonstrates its feasibility serve various operating scenarios. latter include operations under seasonal variation, abnormal weather conditions, different patterns. simulation results reveal not only ensures uninterrupted but also reduces burden by maximizing use PV energy. In addition, SF-based adopted methodology envisaged be useful alternative popular method conventional software tools, particularly systems.
